------------------------------------------------
Children suffering from sickness and diarrhoea MUST have 48 hours free from symptoms before returning to school in order to contain the spread of any illness.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
At Neston Primary, we seek to work in partnership with parents to ensure that each child's experience is one that will enable them to make good progress by building on their skills and talents within a continuous and consistent learning environment. If together we are to achieve this aim, regular attendance at school is vital and full parental support and co-operation in this matter is necessary.
Children only get one chance at school. If they do not attend regularly they may not be able to keep up with their school work or could miss whole sections of the curriculum.
From the 1st of September 2013, Headteachers in all schools will only be allowed to grant ‘leave of absence’ (time off during term time) for ‘exceptional circumstances only’. The Department for Education state that family holidays are not ‘exceptional circumstances’. In exceptional circumstances only, the Headteacher may grant leave of absence during the school year. All such cases should be discussed with the Headteacher.
EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES FOR ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL
The following are all at the Headteacher’s discretion:
- The parent has leave from the Armed Forces (Services)
- Family Crisis (e.g. adoption; bereavement; additional medical needs)
- Religious Observance by the religious body to which the parents belong
- Participation in a supervised sporting activity approved by the school
- Non routine medical or dental appointments (routine appointments to be made outside of school hours)
- Modelling or special stage performances (as long as it can be proved that the education of the child does not suffer)
- Examinations
From September 2013 schools across Cheshire West & Chester will adopt standardised holidays - details are here.
